What is it about?

This publication describes preparation of an ordered array of tetra- and multi-pod nanocrystals of cadmium sulfide using a template of holes composed of two different materials to which cadmium sulfide has different affinity.

Why is it important?

The method used in this work is completely different from the previous ones and it does not require metal seeds for nucleation of the crystals.

Perspectives

The method can be used for creation of metamaterials by selection of appropriate templates that will control growth of nanocrystals which conform the desired pattern.
