What is it about?

The surface properties have a strong effect on bhow implants interact with the tissues. In this article we showed two surface modifications that cause changes at nano level. Changes at nanolevel had a significant effect on the integration of titanium implants in rats. We showed that this was mainly due to the difference of how much protein the surfaces can retain.

Why is it important?

Although several surface treatments were known to have possible effects on titanium/hard tissue interfaces, this has not been done at single titanium bead level.

Perspectives

For me, it is important to understand the different surface treatments on titanium structures at microscale, so that we have a strong foundation to use treatments in clinical applications.
