What is it about?
Here we review the technical aspects of creating biosensors using inkjet printing fabrication technologies. We focus on the printers, the ink components and the functionality of the biosensors.

Why is it important?
Inkjet printing is an advanced technology that is revolutionizing manufacturing. It's application to biosensor fabrication is particularly interesting.
Perspectives
We were very excited to spend some time in the laboratory of Dr. Fabrice Rossignol, learning about inkjet printing methodologies. Our laboratory constructs novel biosensors, for example a diagnostic automaton able to discriminate Ebola and Marburg viruses. We wrote this review to summarize the things we learnt when considering how to apply inkjet printing to make next-generation biosensors.
