What is it about?
Detection of nitroexplosive compound Picric Acid
Featured Image
Why is it important?
It is very important since such explosives are used by terrorist to cause major harm to common public and infrastructure and their detection is very important.
Perspectives
Development of water soluble conjugated polymer is very vital for various applications. In this work a simple conjugated polymer polyelectrolyte was prepared. This blue emitting polyelectrolyte was highly water soluble enabling detection of water soluble analytes in water. This polyelectrolyte had a limit of detection in parts per trillion for picric acid with very rapid and highly selective fluorescence output. Moreover, the detection of picric acid was also possible as solid films.
