This research provides a novel, facile and promising method for effectively regulating the morphology and the properties of the nanofibers based on crystalline-coil copolymer, and may have great potential in future materials and nanotechnology applications.

Why is it important?

Electrospinning is an effective and versatile way to fabricate ultrafine fibers with multilevel structure. In this work, a novel and facile strategy was developed using mixing solvents for controlling the crystallization induced self-assembly of PPDO-b-PEG copolymer in spinning solution and therefore the phase separation in single spinneret electrospun PLA/PPDO-b-PEG nanofibers. Nanofibers with very different phase morphologies and properties were obtained by this special method.
