Why is it important?

Nano-porous Au with surface bound Platinum islands is attributed to the efficient methanol resistant ORR activity. This unique nano structure helps in achieving improved direct methanol fuel cell activity at low platinum loading compared to commercial Pt/C catalysts.

Perspectives

Our nano-porous oxygen reduction catalyst with excellent methanol tolerance in acidic environment serves as a promising model for developing advanced direct methanol cathode catalyst with maximal activity.
