What is it about?

Assembly of non-ionic templates is induced by a sharp thermal gradient; the movement of this temperature gradient nucleates a growth front of the self-assembled structure. This provides directionality to the assembled structure and ultimately the nanopores templated by the molecule. However for anisotropic structures like cylinders, the orientation of this aligned structure can be controlled by the speed that the temperature gradient moves across the surface.
