What is it about?

Anion pi interactions of anions with naphthalimide ring can influence fluoresence properties. In this study such interactions are shown in a series of salts and their utility in anion recontion is shown.

Why is it important?

Optical materials derived from napthalimide and realted compounds are prime concern in material chemistry. Based on design principle anions are held over pi-cloud of naphthalimide in this study. This model study provides direct implications of anion pi-interactions translating to fluorescence signal trasduction.
