Wind wave action on the surface of oceans can transport substantial amounts of material from surface oil spills into the atmosphere.

Why is it important?

The most unique thing about this paper is the fact that we have shown that non-volatile oil material can appear in the atmosphere via the wind/wave induced bubble bursting and white caps on the sea surface.
