What is it about?

This work is about a special manipulation of water droplet, i.e. rubbing nano hydrophobic particals onto a droplet surface with a superhydrophobic coating. Many interesting phenomenons occur and the most characteristic is the stable deformation. Unlike liquid marble, the deformed droplet is as transparent as a normal one and keeps a certain wetting ability. You can deform the liquid like a solid and study it from many aspects.

Why is it important?

This is the first time of eliminating a droplet's surface liquidity, by which solid-like deformabiliy is realized. There are many confusing and meaningful questons that deserve further study. You may find new knowledge about water structure, interaction between water and hydrophobe and even application in biological study.
