What is it about?

The oxidation state of iron in the Sc-capped iron-oxygen complex should be revised. Unlike originally assumed, through molecular modelling it is shown here that the oxidation state is clearly Fe(III), as already anticipated based on the Fe-O and Fe-N distances. Moreover, the spin state is determined to be high-spin. Much remains to be discovered however about this intriguing complex.
