What is it about?

Non-spherical particles have the potential to adopt multiple orientations once adhered to a liquid–liquid interface. In this work we combine simulations and experiments to investigate the behaviour of an isolated microscopic hematite particle of superellipsoidal shape.

Why is it important?

The multiple orientations are understood in terms of the energetic states they inhabit at the interfaces in question with the use of simulations. This explains the multiple angles the particles adopt at the interface and helps us understand the behaviour of tiny particles.
