What is it about?

Five member nitrogen containing heterocycles are indispensable in biology and such compounds undergoes proton transfer under biological conditions. In this article we have demonstrated how solvent guided synthesis of dimeric 3,5-dimethylpyroazole-zinc complex can be achieved from monomeric zinc complex .

Why is it important?

The monomer transforming to dimer through proton transfer and ligand disproportion under ambient condition without an extra reagent than solvent is worth to discover.

Perspectives

Examples provided on formation of different compositions and of different nuclearity by variation of solvent starting from same reagents provides avenues to study such reactions from supramolecular perspectives to gather more information on related biological model complexes.
