What is it about?

This manuscript describes the use of branched (tree-like) molecules to bind DNA and deliver it to cells. Future iterations of such molecules may have application in gene therapy.

Why is it important?

The dentritic molecules are low molecular weight and biodegradable and can be cleared by the renal system. The disulfide bridge can be cleaved via reduction under biological conditions found in various cells facilitating the release of the DNA.
