Light interacting Λ-shape molecules for use as molecular hinges

What is it about?

Λ-shape molecules capable to interact with light and rearrange their structure are introduced.

Why is it important?

The Ʌ-shape molecular geometry of these switchable products has enabled various useful properties including the provision of active sites for intermolecular interactions in the Trans-state. These interactions can be adjusted by switching the azo groups and can be used in molecular recognition studies.
