What is it about?

We have tried to identify genes in a sub-population of progenies which are responsible for conferring salt tolerance as well as high yields under stress

Why is it important?

Multiple genes act in concert to produce salt tolerant rice which will also produce reasonable yield under stress. Identification of these multiple genes is essential in order to pyramid these into commercial rice genotypes for a higher level of tolerance than existing varieties

Perspectives

An excellent example of how inputs from a well-equipped and famous university with high computing facilities can help a developing country like Dhaka University produce excellent work and publish in high impact journals. the work has profound practical implications as well
