What is it about?

We used organotypic cultures form hippocampus, cortex, cerebellum and superior and inferior colliculus from P2 and P8 rats to test the differential bilirubin toxicity and to test neuroprotective drugs.

Why is it important?

The work increases the knowledge about bilirubin-induced toxicity, especially in term of different regional and developmental toxicity. In addition, it suggests possible neuroprotective drugs to prevent bilirubin toxicity.
