What is it about?

The host protease TMPRSS2 is essential for in vivo activation of seasonal and H7N9 Flu A viruses. By contrast, Flu B viruses are fully activated in vivo without TMPRSS2 expression. The present study demonstrates a clear difference between Flu A and Flu B viruses in their molecular mechanisms for spreading in vivo.
