What is it about?

This work describes the interaction between two different networks of intermediate filaments, that might be necessary for keratinocyte migration either in normal skin during wound repair or morphogenetic movements during development, and in Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition associated to the transformed phenotype

Why is it important?

The paper describes an interaction that previously was not considered since current knowledge excludes such type of keratin-vimentin association

Perspectives

It may help to explain the cytoskeletal rearrangements necessary for epithelial cell migration
