Why is it important?

The relevant genetic subclade M33c2 was found in East European Ashkenazim only. Between 640 and 1400m years ago, the ancestors of these East European Ashkenazim must have had sexual contacts with Chinese women. The genetic contribution of the Chinese women shows that during the period the Silk Road was used, it was possible for a Jewish man to have Jewish offspring from a Chinese woman.
