Why is it important?

Many clinical staff who teach university students do not have access to as much support for teaching in comparison with staff employed within the university. This has implications for the quality assurance of clinical teaching. A peer observation of teaching scheme offered an excellent way of providing these clinical tutors with feedback on their teaching, an opportunity to see peers teaching, and a way of feeding back areas where they needed more support from the Dental School in the future.
