What is it about?

Identification of specific ROH (Runs Of Homozygosity) genotypes with detrimental effects on female fertility and milk production traits

Why is it important?

The estimation of inbreeding depression based on ROH does not distinguish between different ROH genotypes, but the effect of all ROHs is estimated jointly. However, not all ROH genotypes have detrimental effects on the trait of interest, some may have neutral or even favorable effects. This may dilute the effect of harmful ROHs towards zero and, therefore, many rare detrimental ROHs can only be found by estimating the effect of each ROH genotype separately.
