What is it about?

We report very- and ultra-long-period signals prior to and during caldera formation on La Réunion Island. 48 collapse events occurred during this incremental caldera collapse and precursory collapses were identified prior to the caldera formation.

Why is it important?

We show that it is possible to detect very- and ultra-long-period signals due to the first collapse at depth with a broadband seismic station approximately 20 h before the surface rupture of the 2007 Dolomieu Caldera collapse.
