Neuro-inflammatory effects of photodegradation products of bilirubin

What is it about?

We used cell lines and rat organotypic hippocampal cultures to test the biological effects of bilirubin and its photodegradation products Lumirubin and BoxA. We are interested in understanding the possible side effects of phototherapy used as the leading treatment in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia.
