Why is it important?

The experience of healthcare provision can arouse very strong emotions, both positive and negative. These emotional experiences are separate from satisfaction or dissatisfaction regarding the outcome of the health care. Patient reported experience measures (PREMs) aim to capture this emotional experience. There is no PREM for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in existence so this research fills an important gap in improving patient care.
