What is it about?
We found that the IL7 receptor and CXCR4 form a signalling platform that brings BCR-ABL1 and JAK kinases together in Philadelphia-positive acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. IL7 supported survival during kinase-inhibitor treatment, while an anti-IL7R antibody prevented leukaemia development in patient-derived models, including drug-resistant disease.

Why is it important?
Resistance to BCR-ABL1 inhibitors limits treatment for some patients. Targeting the IL7R-CXCR4 signalling platform offers a possible alternative strategy and provides a biological explanation for how leukaemia cells can survive standard kinase inhibition.
Perspectives
From my perspective, this work matters because Resistance to BCR-ABL1 inhibitors limits treatment for some patients. I hope the findings support further research and informed, evidence-based decisions.
