Why is it important?
ABCG2 dysfunction revealed to be essential for intestinal urate excretion. A novel concept of classification of hyperuricemia and gout is proposed in this report.
Perspectives
"Urate overproduction" was revealed to have been misunderstood. Now, it is proposed to be renamed as "urate overload" which includes genuine "urate overproduction" and "extra-renal urate underexcretion".
