Why is it important?

Preterm infants are at an increased risk of long-term difficulties. Positive sensory experiences can have a positive effect on infant learning, memory, emotions and developmental progression. A review of the current evidence, as in this article, will be beneficial in defining the amount, type and timing of positive sensory experiences for the preterm infant.
