What is it about?

we have tried to find out the molecular mechanism of Hepatitis E virus when it goes inside the cell. it prefers different strategies in different cell lines to escape form the innate immune response.

Why is it important?

The infection route of the virus is feco-oral. Due to lack of sanitation practices there is increasing death toll due to this virus in developing countries. in pregnant women the mortality rate is around 30%.

Perspectives

To understand the disease it is necessary to know how the Hepatitis E virus establishes inside the cells. As it doesn't have animal model or tissue culture system this study will help to know little more about the set up of the infection.
