What is it about?

Previously, we reported that the multifunctional TG2 plays an important role in recruitment of adhesion proteins for cells to adhere and migrate. Here we report the exact moleculer mechanism on how this happens. Basically TG2 can bind to the adhesion complex protein paxillin and allows phosphorylation of paxillin. The recruitement of protein kinase JNK to the complex is also shown.

Why is it important?

Direct Protein interaction between TG2 and paxillin has never been shown.

Perspectives

Wound healing is an important component of many ocular surface disease. Activation of kinases or addition of TG2 may be used for treatment of non-healing defects.
