Possible immunological correlates between ocular and systemic rheumatoid arthritis

Featured Image

Why is it important?

Severe ocular surface disease like scleritis and more common problems such as dry eye are associated with raised MMPs and inflammatory cytokines such as TNFa. What molecular factors can induce one kind of inflammation vs another?

Perspectives

Its fascinating, why a particular patient with rheumatoid arthritis has dry eye, devastating scleritis, or no inflammation at all.
