What is it about?
The Spiritual Abuse Questionnaire is one questionnaire for spiritual or religious abuse. In this study, we reviewed this questionnaire and provided recommendations to shorten and improve it. A modified, four-item version of this questionnaire is provided and recommended for future use. We also found LGBQ individuals experienced more spiritual abuse compared to heterosexual individuals.

Why is it important?
Our findings provide a shortened version of this questionnaire to be used in future research, therapeutic practice, or for screening of spiritual abuse in other settings. The limited research in this area makes this contribution and recommendations for future projects important to increase understanding.
