What is it about?

This is the first paper in Rehabilitation Psychology to publish demographic, geographic, work, and salary information for psychologists who work in rehabilitation settings or with rehabilitation populations in the U.S.. "Rehabilitation" meaning disability and chronic illness, not substance misuse (though this may also be an issue).

Why is it important?

Salary surveys and state of the field/specialty information is important for recruiting and training providers, to meet the needs of people living with disabilities. To build the field, we have to focus on what sustains us. The real-world implications of the practice of psychology and rehabilitation psychology is often left out of psychology training.

Perspectives

This paper is hopefully the first in a series of papers, to be published approximately every 5 years, to support and guide the growth of the field of Rehabilitation Psychology.
