What is it about?

Is the way people perceive major life events changing over time? For example, are people perceiving events as more predictable or as less emotionally significant over time? In this study, we examined the stability and change of perceived event characteristics and compared them to the stability of personality traits and subjective well-being.

Why is it important?

In this paper, we use continuous time models to explore the stability and change of constructs. Furthermore, stability and change of the perception of major life events has implications for their assessment and for theories like post-traumatic growth or appraisal theory.
