What is it about?
Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) is a treatment approach for challenging behaviors in childhood. The CPS Manualized Expert-Rated Integrity Coding System (CPS-MEtRICS) allows a trained, independent observer to reliably and accurately rate a provider's integrity (i.e., fidelity) to the CPS approach.

Why is it important?
There are many good reasons to measure whether a practitioner is delivering an intervention with integrity. First, a good study of intervention outcomes will require knowing exactly what intervention was delivered and how well. Second, in clinical settings, knowing whether providers are delivering the intervention with integrity allows supervisors to appropriately allocate resources for training and support.
Perspectives
CPS is a relatively young intervention. A published integrity tool will help supervisors and administrators provide better clinical support for those who use this treatment approach and will also drive forward the research on this promising approach.
