What is it about?
This research dealt with a new measurement of the personality trait Machiavellianism. We developed a new scale because earlier scales were faced with numerous problems regarding elements Machiavellianism should or should not comprise.

Why is it important?
Machiavellianism is a crucial trait in the prediction of political and social behaviors. To ensure adequate measurement, a theoretically and empirically sound instrument is required.
Perspectives
I think that the present measure is a relatively simple, but effective way to assess the trait of interest. Admittedly, the MaaQ is an ultra-short scale. Hence, it is desirable to develop a more extensive version of it. Likewise, our initial research considered only self-reported criteria, emphasizing the necessity of behavioral and/or other-rated criteria to evaluate the MaaQ. Nevertheless, I am optimistic and hopeful that the MaaQ promotes further research in the field.
