What is it about?
This paper looks at how an official intergroup conflict resolution attempt -the Kurdish opening- in Turkey is represented by lay people. We show that the way this attempt is represented is embedded in different constructions of nationhood. Nationhood, as a dynamic social representation, is contested. When people are talking about intergroup conflict, they are in fact talking about the nature of the groups in question and their relations.
