Why is it important?
Integrating behavioral health into pediatric primary care is an emerging area to address the rising incident of mental health concerns. Most models adopt a co-location approach where the behavioral health specialist is located within primary care, but focuses on providing services to children already experiencing mental health concerns referred within the practice. In contrast we describe a model wherein behavioral health provides see all children during well-child pediatric visits along side the pediatric provider in order to prevent behaviors from escalating.
