Why is it important?

Due to societal stigma, same-sex couples face unique challenges beyond those experienced by all couples. These findings suggest that relationship education programs, which teach healthy relationship skills, may be an effective and non-stigmatizing approach to help same-sex couples handle these challenges.

Perspectives

I hope this paper raises broader interest in adapting existing interventions to be culturally sensitive to the needs of LGBT individuals and same-sex couples.
