What is it about?
Racism toward Indigenous people in Canada is a pressing social issue. Even in higher education, Indigenous students experience racism. Indigenous students are not simply passive recipients of racism, however. In this study, we describe two studies investigating Indigenous students' experiences with racism and their strategies to challenge racism. Results indicate that racism toward Indigenous students is widespread at one University campus and that Indigenous students use a variety of strategies to stand up to racism.

Why is it important?
This research is important because it illustrates the ongoing and pervasive nature of racism toward Indigenous students. Broadly, Indigenous people are underrepresented in the research literature about racism. This research works to fill this gap by ensuring that the voices and experiences of Indigenous people are included in this literature.
