What is it about?

To have an impact it is important that workers' creative ideas are adopted by their supervisor. We developed a new scale that measures: how much 1. the supervisor is open to a worker's creative ideas, 2. the supervisor selects these ideas for implementation, and 3. these ideas are actually implemented.

Why is it important?

Idea adoption is the link that connects creativity (idea generation) with innovation (idea implementation). This link is crucial for understanding innovation processes, but has received very little research attention yet.

Perspectives

Most workers have creative ideas but not all ideas will be heard and/or used (which can be rather frustrating). By paying attention to the process of idea adoption, we hope to contribute to a workplace where people are heard and pay attention to each others' creative ideas.
