What is it about?
This study explains how particles in granular mixtures segregate (or unmix) when they are completely immersed in different types of fluids.

Why is it important?
Size segregation is a noticeably feature in geophysical mass flow deposits (in both sub aerial and submarine scenarios). It is also believed to affect the motion of the said flows. Although the segregation process is well-understood in dry scenarios, its mechanical origins in the presence of a more viscous fluids is still not completely understood. This paper highlights these mechanisms and attempts to propose a way in order to predict the extent of segregation in different types of fluid.
