What is it about?

Sudden and unexpected changes in our environment can be of potential importants. We have shown that when the sudden and unexpected changes are sounds, presented amidst vibrations to the hands, they may not capture attention away from a visual task.

Why is it important?

Our findings imply that humans does not construct a mental representation of the environment incorparating all sensory modalities at the same time. This is important from theoretical perspectives and future research should also look how the brain processess material.
