Why is it important?
Green chemistry
Perspectives
Zeolite-Y encapsulated oxovanadium(IV) complexes were synthesized and characterized to confim the encapsulation. These encapsulated complexes catalyze the oxidation of phenol effectively with high selectivity toward catechol formation is 90–97%. The only exception is the catalyst [VO(sal-1,3-pn)]-Y, which shows 68% selectivity toward catechol formation under similar reaction conditions.
