What is it about?
Composites prepared from biomass and calcium phosphate are environmentally friendly, and showed excellent mechanical properties and water-resistance. Applications to comodity plastics and parts of mechanical machines are anticipated.

Why is it important?
Microplastics in marine caused damage to many animals. The materials prepared from biomass, not from petroleum, should be used for our future.
Perspectives
To prepare polymer-inorganic crystal composites with excellent mechanical properties both of hydrophilic and hydrophotic character of polymers are important. Hydrophilic groups are necessary to form stable interface with the inorganic crystals and hydrophobic groups are neccesary to make the composite water-resistant.
