What is it about?

This work provides experimental x-ray diffraction and theoretical data on the modes of deformation of a single ZnO nanoparticle excited by a MHz pulsed laser with 100 picosecond time resolution. The importance of torsional versus flexural modes in electric field generation is revealed.
