What is it about?

The cancer mechanism or malignancy starts with the uncontrolled cell divisions. Which means that normal cells become uncontrolled in divisions and normal functions. Any person who is prone to develop any defective mechanism related to malignancy or irregular internal mechanism exhibits such changes in chromosomes. Our studies have consistently found that uncontrolled cellular functions/divisions are associated with releasing of smaller chromatin bodies emanating from chromosomes. This study can reveal early stages and may be helpful in early detection and possible better prevention.

Why is it important?

This search particularly in those families who have had any cancer history should be made mandatory so as to identify in advance. Early detection decidedly helps in better prevention and possibility of cure are increased.

Perspectives

That a normal cell becomes malignant (neoplastic transformation) by some molecular genetic mechanisms, which influence chromosomes has been known to me since my student days way back since 1960s. Preliminary observations on brain cancer tissues and looking at chromosomes during 1970s as a Lecturer in Botany helped me in framing a long termed search. I have studied thousands of slides during my career as a faculty in the department of genetics. I am still active even after retirement in 2004. I can show these chromosome emanating dots in any laboratory where human chromosomes are being studied. Hit Kishore Goswami (Bhopal)
