Why is it important?

The Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale is an observer scale that can rate depression in a population of people with severe obesity. Frequently, the depressive symptoms overlap the physical symptoms of obesity. In addition, in the setting of bariatric surgery, several patients can omit or exhagerate the presence of depressive symptoms.

Perspectives

The Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale can be adopted in routine practice of pre-bariatric phase of patients with severe obesity.
