What is it about?

In this work, an aperture coupled ESPAR antenna has been designed with a unique feed network to achieve linearly polarized symmetric radiation characteristics in all steering directions. Step size is 60 degrees.

Why is it important?

It is important mainly because it is aperture coupled, hence can be used to integrate other microwave circuitry at its feed side. Secondly, it is the unique feed network design that helps achieve symmetric radiation patterns in all switch-able directions.

Perspectives

According to my perspective, symmetric radiation patterns are highly desirable out of a beam-former antenna and the said antenna achieves it elegantly. Secondly, as an extension/future work, this antenna should be developed for real time WLAN application.
