What is it about?
For the first time, the newly proposed optimization method, the Teaching-Learning-Based optimization (TLBO) is used in the field of antenna arrays. Specifically, it is used in the synthesis of thinned planar arrays made of isotropic antennas. The goal is to reduce the side lobes level, while having minimum number of ON elements.

Why is it important?
It is shown that the TLBO is a very good optimization method that can compete with other well-known methods. The TLBO is parameter-free method, such that the user doesn't need to adjust any tuning parameters.
